Hola Studious Students of Smart Student Secrets!
We’ve got big things going on here at Smart Student Secrets but first let’s pause for a moment to say:
CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR!!
For those of us lucky enough to be in the US school system, this time of year is when we get to put away the textbooks, teachers, and even most of the thinking~
(At least that’s my excuse for doing so many dumb things through summer.)
Yes… It’s summer break boys and girls and the rest of you too.
Hopefully you’ve all got some warm weather pleasant vacations coming up because you’ve earned it.
Awesome job folks! We may not know you well but we’re proud of you nevertheless.
Now that the school year is over, I get the impression there are tons of students looking for a break from all that talk of studying and books and the like. That’s why we’ve decided to keep this weeks post simple, quick, and just a little bit silly.
We’ve been waiting to break down some of our potential plans to get some feedback from you lovely readers and skimmers. So please send us a message to let us know what you think (nothing is set in stone yet.)
Personalizing The Members Area
1. We’re thinking of replacing some of our members-only content with a more personalized members approach. We’ve been letting a lot of “lurkers” join or members only area and it’s hard to know how much we’re helping them. We want to replace the general advice with personalized advice to help breakdown where you guys are each specifically struggling.
Do you have any ideas that could make this work?
2. We want to get some of our readers to share their Smart Student Secrets stories and photos (thanks for the love all of you that have already participated.) We may be giving away some free Smart Student Secrets gear.
If any of you are interested please reach out.
3. We’ve been working with a few student writers to get their content ready to liven up our lovely little site with some fresh voices. We can’t wait to let you hear from them. We’re even working with other study blogs to produce more awesome stuff.
Please reach out if you enjoy writing and want to share something!
4. Any Reddit fans here? Make sure you’re following along at www.reddit.com/r/studytips/
5. ENJOY SUMMER BREAK!
And remember, these are the times that separate the extraordinary students from the average.
(For those of you not lucky enough to get summer off… my condolences. Good luck and we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled study stuff next week.)

Study better immediately and not 6 months from now when the stars are all aligning
T had her head down staring at her grade. She’d kind of curled up the edges of the paper a little to casually hide the teacher’s red pen from the people in the chairs next to her. It was another disappointing grade and she just ran out of ideas.
So that afternoon, after class, she went up to the teacher and asked for some advice.
She got an answer – work hard. Study more. She politely responded but felt a little disappointed because she was sure that was what she was already doing.
But… she tried harder.
And a month later, she was staring back down at the same disappointing grade on her paper…
She thought she’d talk to the teacher and clarify how hard she was working. Then ask for advice.
The teacher responded that ‘you shouldn’t expect results so fast. It takes time.’
I agree with that teacher in some sense.
But in another sense, I want to throw him off a bridge. (Not a mortal fall. Just a scary, think-twice before saying that stupid thing again fall.)
Good studying shows instant results. NOW! Not 6 months from now. – for most classes… math has some complications but more than a month is too long to wait.
Maybe not in your final grade. But on the single assignment and test grades – results should be showing up.
If not, change something. (Even if it’s something small.)
To take it farther –
For some students, the second they stop studying using a Smart Student Secrets/Active Recall strategy, they can instantly feel the difference in knowledge. Instead of ending their study session worried, they end the session with confidence.
Results aren’t something that you should wait 6 months for.
You shouldn’t have to wait until everything goes perfect.
Are you ready for results?
That’s what I teach.
I’ll also send you some awesome freebies.
